HHS Students and Parents:
November brings the successful conclusion of several student activities at Huntsville High. Congratulations to the HHS Football team for its 9th consecutive appearance in the state playoffs. Also, kudos go to the HHS Band for its outstanding performances at our football games and for its recent participation in the Veterans Day Parade. Over one hundred of our ROTC cadets also marched in the parade. Once again, our Volleyball team brought state honors to our school with a runner up finish in the state playoff championship game. Both the girls’ and boys’ Cross Country teams won 1st place in the sectional championships, and both finished in the top ten at the state championships. Twenty members of the HHS Swim and Dive team are advancing to the state championship meet.
November also signals the start of other activities at school. The girls’ and boys’ Basketball teams, HHS Wrestling team and the HHS Indoor Track team kicked off their seasons this month. Our Drama department held tryouts for the spring musical Godspell, and rehearsals have begun. The HHS Academic Team had its first competition this month, and our Robotics Team opened its year with a win at the Kell Robotics competition in Atlanta.
I am excited to introduce two new teachers to Huntsville High School. In our English department, Sam Roy replaced Lula Mae Martin and Tamra Lane replaced Teresa Dent. Both recent graduates, they bring enthusiasm and outstanding academic records to our students. Another English teacher, Amy Bishop, was chosen by her peers as the Huntsville High Teacher of the Year and will represent our school at the city and state level competitions. Congratulations to Mrs. Bishop!
Thank you for your continued support of our outstanding students and faculty. Please continue to encourage your student to do his/her best every day at school and to ask for help if needed. Support your student by making sure he/she is in attendance every day.
On behalf of our faculty and staff, I extend wishes to each of you for a Thanksgiving holiday filled with family and relaxation. School will be closed Wednesday, November 27th through Friday, November 29th.
